Raymond Prucher, MFA (b. Rock Island, Illinois, USA) is an artist, designer and writer. He taught art and design at SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY Suffolk Community College, Dowling College, Al-Quds University, and the American University in Dubai.

 

As an artist, Prucher's work has included painting, installation, sculpture, print, drawing and digital media. He has exhibited in France, Palestine, South Africa, the UAE and the USA.

 

A book of his prints, Jenin imPrints, was published in 2006 by Color Gang Edition, Givors, France. A twentieth anniversary edition of Jenin imPrints, featuring the original artwork by Raymond Prucher, and including a new foreword by Marcelo Guimarães Lima, an English translation by Etel Adnan of her poem, “Jenin”, and a new poem by Prucher, is available in both hardcover and softcover on Whimperbang Press, a small publisher he founded in 2026. His poems and critical essays have been published in This Week in Palestine and Design Altruism Project, and his work was included in Arabesque: Graphic Design from the Arab World and Persia, published in 2009 by Die Gestalten Verlag.

 

He has been the founding editor of whimperbang, a literary journal published online since 2003. Prucher also served with Designers Without Borders (DWB) as a design mentor to students at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda in 2007–2008, and has been on the DWB board since 2008.

 

As a designer, creative and art director for several companies and non-profits in a variety of sectors, Prucher has worked with numerous organizations, including: Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Bigs and Littles NYC, Goldman Sachs, Horticultural Society of New York, Khatt Foundation, Krush Brands, Open Hearts Art Center, The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Sorbonne University and University of Montreal.

 

He lives with his wife and pup in New York's Hudson Valley.
